Flashcards

As homeschool moms and dads, we are always looking for new teacher resources to help in our homeschool. Today, I'd like to share with you all one of my favorites, simple flashcards. In my opinion, flashcards are to often under appreciated nowadays. Yes, there are flashier, more expensive teaching aids, that do work very well. But let me tell you why I like using flashcards.
For starters, making flashcards for kids is super easy, cheap, and they work. Another great thing about flashcards is you can use them for any subject and for any age, math to foreign languages, Pre-K all the way through college and beyond.
If you do choose to add flashcards into your schooling, you can also take it one step further, by letting your kids help or make the flashcards on their own. Letting them be a part of the creating process, can actually help them learn the material because it reinforces the information in another way. So, if you have never used flashcards before, then I hope now you will give them a try ;)

Happy "Heart" Day!

It is February and with that comes Valentine’s Day. There are many ways to add this holiday into your homeschool curricula. You can print themed pintable worksheets, or make fun crafts like home-made Valentine’s. You could also take it one step further for your seventh grader and do a study on the human heart. With access to the internet, it is easier than you think to gather the info needed. If you took Anatomy & Physiology in college, you may still have your old text books, which you could use too ;)

Homeschooling in the New Year

With the New Year here, this is a great time to look back on your homeschool year and see where you could tweak things, add things, and in general make things better. This could mean getting up earlier or later to start you school day. You could revamp your teaching area or create one. You could make time for more interest led activities. You could change or add things to your current curriculum. For example: kids like to play free games. So, why not mix educational games, into your homeschool? Maybe you haven’t taken any field trips yet this school year. Now would be a good time to plan some.

I hope everyone had a Great 2014 & hopefully, an even better 2015!
